Only a tip-off? Based on what btw?

The UPA’s flip-flops under Shri Moily and Shri Chidambaram’s stewardship of their respective Law and Home ministries, in the Ishrat Jahan & Co. case is no longer amusing. The latest report suggests that the “new & revised” & decidedly cringing affidavit to counter the UPA’s own bolder previous affidavit; will somehow try to state what has never been denied by the Gujarat administration in the first place – That the affidavit was not a *go-ahead* for a “fake” encounter. Moreover, the fakeness of the encounter is yet to be proved in a court of law.

Centre guns for Modi in Ishrat case

29 Sep 2009, 1153 hrs IST

The Centre is reportedly ready to disprove Narendra Modi government’s contention, that it was the UPA also, which had given credence to the reports of Ishrat Jahan being a terrorist on a mission to target CM Modi. (Pala S – The Union Govt’s earlier bolder affidavit did just that)

Highly placed sources in the Home Ministry told TIMES NOW on Tuesday (September 29) said that the affidavit being filed in the Ahmedabad court today will clarify on the allegations made by the Modi government. (Pala S – What allegations?)

The affidavit is going to clarify that the information given by the Centre was a tip off and does not justify the brutal action taken by the Modi Govt. (Pala S – The Gujarat administration has never claimed it.)

The controversy started after a magisterial court called the Ishrat Jahan death – a fake encounter, following which the Modi govt tried to justify its action by saying that even the Centre had given the same information on Ishrat Jahan. (Pala S – This is very low journalism. The Gujarat administration has not justified any fake encounter)

Ishrat Jahan, her friend Javed Ghulam Sheikh and two alleged Pakistani terrorists were allegedly shot dead in an encounter by Gujarat police in 2004, reportedly on a tip-off from central intelligence agencies that they were planning to target the Chief Minister. (Pala S – Excerpts from the bolder affidavit)

Palahalli S writes –  So if the UPA is not denying that the tip-off was made, then it should explain the basis for the tip-off.
