A chat about Zakat

This discussion is about the inconvenience faced by American Muslims (Please note the fact that it’s not Am-Arabs or Am-Pakistanis or Am-Indians etc. These are Muslims, plain and simple) in practicing their religion and more specifically in the act of giving Zakat.

Post 9/11, the US Government seems to have clamped down on all Islamic charities ex USA because they found these monies being routed to terror networks. However and ever since Shri Obama spoke these misty words –

‘Freedom of religion is central to the ability of peoples to live together. We must always examine the ways in which we protect it. For instance, in the United States, rules on charitable giving have made it harder for Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation. That is why I am committed to working with American Muslims to ensure that they can fulfill zakat.’

– there seems to have begun a debate around the need for “loosening up” by the authorities so that the faithful nee Muslims, can practice their faith un-hindered; Un-hindered by evil Homeland Security type cults. Cute.

Please read this discussion closely.
