One must know what to meddle with

Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, our Health Minister is in a tearing hurry. Seems to me he wants to witness our population going down by X% by the time he’s thrown out of office.

But what caught my attention apart from the fact that so called Hindu “Conservatives” in Parliament are letting him get away with his wet dreams; was another small snippet alongside the main Ghulam azan.

I really wonder how this and similar specimen want to fit this square peg in their round hole.

India greying fast

Mumbai: A young India better brace for a greying tomorrow. India’s population of senior citizens is projected to increase by a whopping 274% by 2040, the fastest growing next only to Singapore and Colombia shows a report of 52 countries released by the National Institute of Aging, US, on Monday.

The report projects that developing countries like India will see a phenomenal increase in seniors by 2040 as compared to the developed world. For instance, their population in Bangladesh is expected to swell by 260% and 206% in Pakistan.

Saying the growth of the greying pool has “enormous implications’’, particularly because longevity is steadily increasing (on an average Indians currently live till 68 years), P Arokiasamy of the International Institute for Population Sciences, Govandi said: “We need policies which will encourage successful aging.’’
